Who is this for?

These highly focused mentoring sessions are for people who have a diagnosis of autism and/or ADHD, or have self-identified as such (we do believe self-identification is valid) and would like to find out more about their autistic and/or ADHD profile.

We believe that even though every neurodivergent person has met the same criteria, we are all individuals and know firsthand that what works for one person will not work for everyone. These profiling sessions will be with Jess Hendrickx. Jess is a late-diagnosed AuDHD woman who has been working as a mentor and diagnostician since 2019. She has met and worked with a wide range of neurodivergent people and is also a published author (Could I Really Be Autistic? and Women & Girls on the Autism Spectrum 2nd Edition - both published by JKP).

What will happen during the first 3 sessions?

The first 3 sessions are all about information gathering and helping you to learn about yourself - what are your strengths, what are the things that you find hard. Together, we will work through the diagnostic criteria for autism and/or ADHD.

The autism session will focus on social interactions & communication, flexibility of thought (routines, change, all or nothing thinking, etc.), interests, and sensory differences.

The focus of the ADHD only sessions will depend on whether you have inattentive, hyperactive-impulsive, or combined ADHD. Regardless of which ADHD type you are, we will work through the diagnostic criteria so that you have a better understanding of your strengths and struggles, which will then help you to work towards finding strategies that work for you.

If you have a diagnosis/self-id as being AuDHD, we will focus on the contradictions of both neurotypes and unpack what is being led by your autistic self and what is being led by the ADHD. Many AuDHDers talk about feeling like they have two different parts to their brain and personality - the rigid, rule-driven, changing-avoiding autistic part vs the chaotic, free-flowing, blurting things out ADHD side.

We will not look into childhood, as these sessions are about your autistic profile as an adult and how you go about navigating the world now that you have been diagnosed/self-identified as autistic/ADHD.

We can work with parents of younger children, but not children themselves.

Follow-up sessions - strategies

Using the profile from the first 3 sessions, we will then come up with weird and wonderful ways for you to be able to support yourself moving forward. In the first sessions, we will plan out exactly the areas that you would like help with, and then spend the remaining sessions talking about what has and hasn’t worked in the past, and suggesting new strategies to try.

It is suggested that these sessions are spaced out at least fortnightly so that you have the time and opportunity to put things into practice. Some people find that knowing they have a session coming up keeps them accountable, but we never judge if someone has not had the brain power/time to try out the strategies that have been suggested. Sometimes things will not work, and that is okay to - what is important to figure out is why, so that we can work out something that might.

All of our sessions are via Zoom, so we can work with people not just in the UK but worldwide.

Testimonials

“Thanks so much for yesterday for being a mirror and giving me more insight about the Audhd. I really feel that your work is lifesaving. At least that is the impact I feel.

“My autism assessment was a very positive experience, in spite of the anxiety and nervousness that I felt in the run up. Jess was very easy to talk to, creating a safe space to discuss my life experiences, and added some interesting insights. I felt supported and heard, and am very glad that I took this step.”

“I have to say, from the bottom of my heart, how absolutely wonderful and delightful the ‘assessment’ was! I just had a really enjoyable time talking with you. Very positive experience and such resonance with your stories and sharing. You really made me feel comfortable being myself and thoroughly accepted and ‘met’ in the dialogue. And so - the me I know myself to be when I’m truly comfortable to be myself and not trying to ensure I don’t take ’too much focus’ showed up. Thank you so much Jess. What a different experience than most people describe receiving a ‘diagnosis’ (inappropriate term as it is for this). It was a very healing experience in itself.” Helen, Psychotherapist

“Just a note to thank you and the team again for the amazing work. Jess's report and our conversation was truly a life-changing moment for me that I am so grateful I've had.”

“I just want to say thank you to Jess for taking me through my assessment gently and for the wisdom shared and validation I felt.”

The assessment experience was great, although I am still taking it in. I found the conversation (and ultimately my diagnosis) helpful, valuable and validating. Jess was so knowledgeable, great at putting me at ease and explaining things - I really felt I was in good hands.”

"Thanks to Jess as I have found this process extremely helpful. It has helped me to make sense of so much and I am so glad that I took the step.”

“Thank you very much to Jess for making me feel so at ease and heard during the assessment. I felt very anxious at the outset and Jess made it a helpful, positive and enlightening experience. I feel like it was a very first positive step in the journey ahead to understand myself and create better coping strategies.

"It's been an overwhelming journey, but I've found the experience so validating. I feel like I now have a good starting point from which I can begin to understand how my brain works - and I know there will be a significant positive impact on my life as a result. I am so glad I took this step and immensely grateful for your time, the report and the resources."

"It was a very good, worthwhile and beneficial call, thank you for all your support and encouragement. It’s a whole new world, exciting, daunting, overwhelming but overall a great step into a new chapter for me, thank you! You clocked it all so well in the report and whilst I didn’t know if to laugh or cry or love it or hate it, I definitely do love it and embrace it all. New chapter, with new horizons and new ‘tools’ to manage life. This has been a fantastic experience and a lot for me to now grasp and learn, and definitely going to look into all the recommended resources."
